The Challenge: Engineering Precision for a New Generation of Nuclear Power
The construction of the Hualong One reactor at CGN Lufeng required a paradigm shift in methodology. The project demanded unprecedented levels of safety, precision, and schedule reliability to erect the reactor’s massive and complex containment structures.
The GOWE Solution: An Integrated Self-Climbing Construction Platform
GOWE provided a 1,400-tonne integrated solution: the Building Machine. This system functions as an intelligently controlled, large-scale modular machinery platform that surrounds the entire reactor building, creating a controlled factory environment at height.
Key System Capabilities:
-
Full-Enclosure & Self-Climbing: The platform encircles the structure, climbing synchronously via a synchronized hydraulic jacking system. This provides a stable, protected workspace, independent of weather conditions.
-
Heavy-Load Capacity & Stability: The robust steel structure supports all concurrent construction activities, including heavy reinforcement and large-volume concrete pours, ensuring continuous workflow.
-
Typhoon-Resistant Design: Engineered to withstand extreme weather events, guaranteeing structural integrity and schedule adherence in a coastal environment.
The Result: Setting a New Benchmark in Nuclear Construction
The Building Machine was pivotal in the construction of the Hualong One reactor containment. It enabled a faster, safer, and more precise construction process, directly contributing to the timely completion of a critical clean energy asset. A single Hualong One unit is designed to generate approximately 10 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, powering millions of homes and reducing CO₂ emissions by over 8 million tons per year.
